MSI recently sent us a mysterious laptop, the latest model in the SUMMIT series. Powered by Intel’s latest 11th generation i7-1185G7, this thin and light laptop is also equipped with Nvidia’s 1650 Ti Max-Q graphics card, which makes this laptop weighing just 1.7kg take care of gaming, office and entertainment.

The highlight of this laptop is that it comes with two USB Type-C ports that support the USB4 spec. Interface, while supporting the latest Intel Thunderbolt 4 schema, bandwidth soars directly to 40Gb/s. Plus, this laptop also supports PCIe Gen4 SSD to enable the maximum speed of the running programme.

Because we got the engineering sample this time, so it is not the final version, all tests are for reference only, please keep focus on the retail version detailed testing in the future.

Screen Calibration
MSI SUMMIT E15 is using a FHD Innolux N156HCE-EN1(CMN15E8) IPS-level touch panel.

Frankly, before the calibration, this screen with only 91.5% sRGB coverage is not enough for light-weighted video, photo editing and 3D modelling, 60Hz refresh rate is just enough for working and basic gaming. In the end, we are using the DisplayCAL with Datacolor Spyder 4 Elite to calibrate this panel.

Calibration result: Average △E≈0.12, Maximum △E≈5.99
After calibration, we have a 100.7% of sRGB, 69.4% of Adobe RGB and 71.4% of DCI P3 coverage

Ultimately, the MSI Summit E15 is an edgy-looking business laptop designed to look more like some premium gaming models. That doesn’t necessarily mean it looks radical. Some high-end gaming laptops have moved toward more sophisticated-looking designs that want to blend better with professional laptops. The goal is to allow you to use them in a variety of environments and have them come off in higher quality, less toy-like manner.
